The Mark Moore Gallery is pleased to announce new paintings by Daisuke Ueno. Ueno lives and works in Saitama, Japan.
"The day became white and everything in the town separated. Houses sailed off like ships onto unknown seas. The people had new hope to discover freedom on their voyage.?" Daisuke Ueno describes the groups of houses in his paintings as floating vessels, removed from their structural foundation in search of a new sense of place. Houses stacked on houses and carried by wings made of rooftops, Ueno's paintings construct new communities within each canvas, using pale tones of pink, orange, gold, yellow and red to create an atmosphere of peace and tranquility for their anticipated journey.
Over the past two years, Ueno has had two solo exhibitions at Kyubidou Gallery in Tokyo, Japan. Participating in a group show in 2005 at Raid Projects in Los Angeles, this will be Ueno's second exhibition in the United States.
