The placid pleasures of suburban leisure are set in vaguely unsettling surroundings in Todd Hebert's paintings. Combining high resolution detailing with imagery that hovers on the edge of perception, Hebert's work treads the line between abstraction and realism, concrete knowledge and uncertainty. The iconography Hebert employs suggesting inevitable impermanence, his canvases capturing a fleeting moment just before a firework, a holiday or a season passes and is forgotten.

Todd Hebert (b. 1972, North Dakota) received his BFA from the University of North Dakota (ND) before going on to earn his MFA from Rhode Island School of Design (RI). In 2005, he was the recipient of the prestigious 2005 Aldrich Emerging Artist Award Recipient and was featured in a major solo exhibition at the museum. He has had major solo exhibitions throughout the United States, including at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum (CT). His work is included in numerous prestigious public collections, including that of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (CA). Hebert lives and works in Rhinebeck, NY.
