Through his research-intensive practice, Ryan Taber investigates a broad range of histories, artists, architects, and filmmakers – amongst others – who have contributed to the visual canon that shapes our perception of social and cultural landscapes. His hyper-textual sculptures, drawings, and paintings address cultural objects across centuries – from antiquity to pop culture – to build a coherent vision of the interconnectivity of such discourses, in which he contextualizes contemporary discussions.

Taber (born 1978, Fort Knox, TX) earned his MFA at the California Institute of the Arts, Valencia (CA). He has had been included in group shows hosted by institutions such as Torrance Art Museum (CA), Machine Project (CA), the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (CA) and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (NY), and has had solo exhibitions in Los Angeles and Vancouver. The artist lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.
